The Region 2000 Business and Economic Development Alliance and Region 2000 Technology Council convened over 70 regional key leaders and stakeholders for a Broadband Summit on June 11, 2015. Access and availability of high-speed internet has continued to be identified as a critical area impacting regional growth and competitiveness.
The summit included remarks from Delegate Kathy Byron, Chair of Virginia’s Broadband Advisory Committee; an informative presentation from Sandie Terry, Broadband Program Coordinator for Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology; panel on The Future Technology Impact on Business and Education; Internet Service Provider Panel and a best practice presentation from the Bedford County Economic Development Office and Broadband Advisory Committee. Broadband co-sponsors included Mid-Atlantic Broadband and Wells Fargo Bank with additional corporate sponsors of Lumos Networks, Shentel, and the Center for Innovative Technology.
