Congratulations to Innovative Wireless Technologies, one of our member companies, on their expansion and relocation from Forest to downtown Lynchburg:
“The former federal courthouse on Main Street, which has been unoccupied since 2005, will soon be home to a Forest technology company.
Innovative Wireless Technologies purchased the building at 1100 Main St. for $960,000 in May, according to city records.
The company will be moving into the building this August, said Todd Irby, chief financial officer and chief operating officer. The move will give the company more than three times the space of its two facilities in Forest, he said.
The company currently has about 10,000 square feet, while the courthouse is 36,000.
“The courthouse building will give us expansion room and also provide for more elbow room for our current operation,” he said.
Innovative Wireless has about 45 employees. It designs, develops and produces wireless products, services and software for commercial markets and the federal government. Among the company’s products are wireless sensors that are deployed along the Mexico border.
Irby said Innovative wasn’t specifically looking to move downtown when it searched for a new building, but the continued revitalization and amenities like the nearby bike trail and YMCA helped in the decision…” (Read more at Work It Lynchburg)
