First Lego League: 2011 Lynchburg Regional Coaches Workshop

The new 2011 FIRST LEGO League season is upon us and this year’s theme is ‘Food Factor‘:

“In the 2011 Food Factor Challenge, over 200,000 9-14 year olds from over 55 countries will explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters – from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and storage – then find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates.”

Experienced and first-time (or potential) FLL coaches, leaders and mentors are invited to take part in the ‘VA/DC FLL Lynchburg Regional Coaches Workshop‘ hosted by CVCC September 10, 2011. The goal of the all-day workshop is to prepare, inspire and encourage FLL coaches with helpful information relevant to this year’s challenge. LEGO materials will be distributed for coaches who have not picked them up previously.

Who Should Attend?:

  • Brand New registered FLL team coaches, potential coaches, leaders & mentors.
  • Experienced coaches willing to share ideas.

What to Bring:
Participants should bring a laptop computer with NXTG installed, an NXT robot and attachments built according attached instructions, a USB cable, a fully charged NXT battery, power cord (for charging NXT battery), an extension cord, and a bagged lunch (we will have access to refrigerator and microwave).
