Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine has named Centra one of the 220 Most Wired health care systems in America.
Centra is one of 10 systems in Virginia recognized this year, the fifth time Centra has been recognized by the magazine for information technology. The magazine evaluated more than 1,500 health care providers.
The magazine annually surveys health care systems on their use of information technology in the areas of clinical quality and safety, clinical integration, infrastructure and business and administrative management. According to the survey, hospitals nationwide are working toward providing information technology services that protect patient information and optimize communication.
Centra uses electronic medical records and computerized physician order entry and clinical documentation.
“This award showcases the efforts of our talented and dedicated staff in the technology management departments, as well as the use of that technology throughout all of Centra,” Ben Clark, Centra vice president and chief information officer, said in a news release Friday. “Receiving the award becomes more challenging every year as systems across the nation are improving IT systems implementation and the level of IT adoption increases.”
Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine is published by the American Hospital Association.
